Looking for a fun and easy way to occupy your little ones this summer? Look no further than your local zoo! Surprisingly, our recent trip to the Zoo in the summertime was anything but impossible. With spacious parking and plenty of entertainment options, it's the perfect family outing. Plus, kids under 3 get in for free!

Last weekend, my family and I escaped the confines of our home and headed to Brevard County Zoo for a much-needed change of scenery. With an energetic toddler and a curious 5-month-old in tow, we were eager to explore the animal kingdom together. The lush grounds and interactive exhibits did not disappoint, and we all left with memories to cherish.

First things first:

What did we take? Other than ourselves, we took a 12fl oz water thermal for my toddler, and a 46fl oz water thermal for my husband and I. We also took a roll sunscreen of an SPF of 60, the stroller for two (mockingbird), a portable fan and a few snacks.

We started off our adventure with a visit to the "rainforest" exhibit, followed by a tour of the "wild Florida" and "Land of change" areas. But our favorite by far was the "Expedition Africa" section, where we got the chance to feed giraffes. While we did have to pay for lettuce, the look of excitement on my son's face was absolutely priceless. And that's not all - the zoo also offers other animal feeding opportunities, as well as kayaking and ziplining for the more adventurous crowd. We spent about 3 hours at the zoo, mostly in the "Expedition Africa" area. I have no doubt my toddler would've happily stayed longer, but we had other plans for the day.

If you're a parent looking to tire out your little ones while enjoying some fresh air, I highly recommend a trip to the zoo. It's a guaranteed crowd-pleaser - my sons were so exhausted from all the fun that they both fell asleep on the ride home. And while we didn't have lunch at the zoo (my picky eater strikes again), there were plenty of finger food options available. Don't miss out on this family-friendly outing, and be sure to take advantage of all the exciting activities the zoo has to offer.
